The time has come…

As I sat here on this soggy, dark and gloomy Labor Day with a glass of orange juice by my side nursing a cold I figured I needed to find something to do to occupy my time. I mean, after all…a cookout WAS out of the question considering the weather. The gym was not gonna happen given my current state. And well, let’s just say the “maid” wasn’t gonna make an appearance around these parts either. I decided today was going to be “inspiration day” for me. It’s been quite some time since I’ve just taken a day to do what I want and find what inspires me. That meant no editing…no client phone calls or email…no business related anything whatsoever. It meant perusing the blogs of some of my favorite photographers that I’ve neglected for say, 6 months (boy, was that a lot of catching up…and I promise to leave you guys blog love next time around!). It also meant thumbing through all types of magazines from wedding (Unveiled & grace ormonde Wedding Style) to home furnishings (West Elm) to fashion (Vogue & InStyle). Now, rarely do I ever take the time to sit down and thumb through a magazine. I mean, I have subscriptions to a ton…and I have good intentions of shutting the computer and looking through them…but far too often they end up in a pile “for another day”. Today was my day. Today I reminded myself of why I get subscriptions to these magazines…and why I WANT to look through them. I found beautiful art and inspiration in every single magazine. It’s amazing how easy it is to forget….and at the same time it is also exciting how easy it is to fall back into finding beauty in the smallest of things. I reconnected. I relaxed. It was a thing of beauty.

All of that to say that I was prompted to post some of my recent work (perhaps slightly violating my “no work rule” today). The last time I tried to post to my blog I was unable to attach pictures to my post. Now…for a “writer” or “poets” blog, to not be able to post pictures would kinda stink. But for a photographer’s blog, it’s darn near tragic. I mean, what photographer doesn’t post pics with an entry???? GASP! So I was certain I’d be able to figure out the problem today. I was, after all, determined and on a mission to keep fueling this inspiration frenzy I had going on. After trying to post on three different computers and three different browsers I still remained unsuccessful….and very much defeated by my own blog. It drop kicked me yet again. So….the time has come to switch blogs. It’s been a much needed change for quite some time actually. I mean, my blog has needed a “face lift” of sorts. So I figure instead of dressing up this one I’ll go ahead and get a brand new blog and start fresh. And kick this stubborn and moody little number to the side.;-)

Stay tuned for details!

American Family Fitness’ Hot Mamas!

If you live in the Richmond area, you’ve no doubt heard of American Family Fitness Centers (www.amfamfit.com).  They have seven locations from the Southside even as far North as Fredericksburg….several of which boast brand new facilities and state of the art fitness equipment.  Well, I had the absolute pleasure of working with them on the relaunch of their “Hot Mamas” campaign.  We did several photo shoots for the revamping of the brochures and the posters, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

The Hot Mamas program is 12 week fitness program for “new moms and moms to be” according to their brochures.  Ladies work with their own personal trainers to help them not only maintain but even achieve certain fitness goals while expecting and after delivering.  As you can see from the images below I worked closely with several of the participants.  Every single one had nothing but excellent things to say about the program.  They absolutely loved it!  So please, if you know someone who is expecting…pass the word along.;-)

I want to give a HUGE thanks to my wonderful friend Marta (www.martalocklear.com) that helped me out sooo much while I was up in Fredericksburg doing a few of the shoots!  You were a Godsend!!! ;-)

Be sure to look out for the posters at your location!  Here are just a few that are out there:

Beautiful Mama.

It’s no secret that it has been QUITE some time since my last blog post.  In my defense, let me just say it hasn’t necessarily been by choice.  For some crazy reason I decided it was a good idea to install the latest wordpress update.  I mean, after all…updates are good right?  They are BETTER versions of current running versions.  Well….it was not a good idea.  Not at all.  I ended up locking myself out of my entire blog….for quite some time.  I had absolutely no access to it at all.  I could not write, post comments…nothing.  Lesson learned for sure.  Since I’m so ridiculously technically challenged when it comes to this stuff I will from now on leave things like that alone.  As I said earlier this evening while at Tisha’s (www.tishamccuiston.com), it worked fine before….why did I feel the need to install an update???  And as Tisha said, “Yep…if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.  Wiser words were never spoken.  Well, it definitely helps to have great friends first of all….but friends that understand this foreign language I like to call “code”, well that’s even better.  Tisha’s husband Daryl (www.defiantcreative.com) was able to go in and fix my crazy situation I had going on.  I cannot thank him enough.  And I’m pretty sure I owe him lots of lavish things in repayment for his services.;-)

Now…moving on to the beautiful mama I recently photographed…how gorgeous is she?  Not only does she look sooooo amazing, she is incredibly fun.;-)  I thoroughly enjoyed our time together.  Check out the pics below from our recent session.;-)

Until next time….well, provided I don’t get locked out again!;-)

Lexi and Andy

So you guys remember my post a while back about the crazy engagement session in Emporia, VA where a bee flew up my pants and stung me?  Or where the couple being photographed fell in the water just a few minutes into it?  Or where we topped all the madness off with a crazy hail storm?  If not, then please refer to this post ( http://www.tiffanisunshinephotography.com/blog/2008/07/08/if-i-didnt-know-better/) to fill you in on the absolute chaos that accompanied our engagement session.  It was an adventure for sure, but well worth it because we got some amazing images that day!  Well, let me tell you, their wedding day couldn’t have been any more opposite of the engagement session.  The day was GORGEOUS, the bride was incredibly stunning, the groom was handsome as ever and the location of the reception could not be any more perfect.  Everything went off without a hitch.  It was perfect.

Lexi spent A LOT of time planning out all of the details of the day and it showed.  The bouquets were amazing and vibrant.  The mustang they rode in to the reception was way cool.  The actual claw foot tub that held all of the beverages was such a creative touch.  And the table centerpieces that included different images from their engagement session were awesome!  She had all the details covered.

I’m not quite finished editing all of the images from the wedding yet, but Lexi asked for a sneak peek, so that’s what she will get.;-)  There are far too many to choose from, and I’m not very good at narrowing down so I think I’ll close my eyes and point to images to include in this post.;-)  Ok, well I’m kidding….but I did have a super difficult time deciding what images to post.  Hope you enjoy these!

Once again, many thanks to the very talented Tisha McCuiston (www.tishamccuiston.com) for being my guest photographer for the day!

The bridesmaid’s bouquets….

Lexi waiting to enter the church…

And I’ve seen this done before and have always wanted to try this….so fun.

I had fun playing with different treatmenst and textures on this one.;-)  And yes, that is the moon behind them.

And last one for now….this was the end of the night and there was this amazing fog that lined the field out by the reception.  While the fog doesn’t show up in the images, I still think these shots turned out amazing and am so glad we ventured over that way for some more fun.

Thanks so much Lexi and Andy!  You guys are so awesome and we had a blast at your wedding!

The maternity session that was almost a newborn session…

When I spoke with mom to be about doing maternity portraits for her I knew we had to do them quickly as she was very near her due date.  So after talking and realizing we needed to make it happen….and soon, we got together the following week for her session.  So I arrive at their house, and we do the session.  All goes well…she’s gorgeous…hubby got involved in some shots…lighting was fabulous….everything was perfect.  So I go on my way.  Come to find out, just TWO hours after I left our session she went into labor!  I could not believe it!  She was so poised,  so relaxed and just so at ease, who would’ve known that not only that very day, but in two short hours she would be giving birth?   Crazy how that works.  Anyways….when mom wrote and told me about it, she said she couldn’t wait to see what she looked like just “two hours before giving birth”.  Well….here it is.  She looks AMAZING.

Uh…..my blog has a mind of it’s own again!  Sorry for all the spacing between images!   Just keep scrollin’.;-)

Sweet little newbie

Prepare yourself for this little guy…he’s a cutie for sure!  I was so excited for his session as mom had contacted me months before his arrival to schedule a newborn session.  She called me shortly after he was born and I got over there as quickly as I could…just a few days after birth.   He was perfect in so many ways.  He couldn’t be any cuter, he couldn’t have been any sleepier, and amazingly enough he didn’t have ONE accident!  That’s pretty much unheard of for a newborn session.  So I’ve gotta give this little guy tons of credit for being such a great little model.  He knew what he was doing.;-)  Or maybe it was the bean bag worked wonders on him….either way, he was a dream.

This one is so cute to me b/c of his little fingers.  “Technically” he was 4 days old in this shot (if we’re going by hours in the day and not actual days…ha!).

Gotta love the fingers on this one too….

And last one…I could go on and on posting this little guy, but I’ll stop here!

Just want to remind everyone too, there is a very limited number of sessions available until the Holiday cut off. ;-)

Until next time…..

Guess what I’m doing tomorrow???

Yep…that’s right, it’s time for Lorin and Jeremy’s wedding and I could not be more excited!  They invited me out to the rehearsal dinner tonight and the location is beautiful!  I cannot wait to shoot there tomorrow…their wedding is going to be so amazing.;-)  Of course I’ll share images, don’t you worry!;-)

We’re also back from a much needed family vacation at the beach my friends and I’m ready to roll.  Relaxing was good and it was much needed, that’s for sure.  But of course it’s back to work and as a result of taking a few days off, I’ll definitely be working overtime to finish editing all of the sessions I packed in prior to vacation.

Hope everyone had an awesome summer and is now enjoying their FALL!!!
