~lexi~ richmond va maternity photographer

i have been fortunate to be a part of this family’s lives for many, many momentous occasions.  i first met lexi during her engagement shoot…it was an amazing, fun and wild engagement shoot.  in fact, it was quite possibly the craziest shoot i’ve ever done as there was no shortage of wild events including bee stings, hail and one of them (i won’t say who!) falling in the water.  since that time, i have shot her wedding, her first maternity session, another family session and now her second maternity session.  i truly feel blessed to be such a constant part of so many amazing times in their lives.;-)

as i was editing these images from her maternity shoot, i realized also, that there was a definite constant with her sessions….the majority of them revolve around the water.   and rocks.  and nature.  and well, that’s quite appropriate for her since she IS a soil scientist and all.;-)

just one- richmond va artistic photographer

meet dwayne.  he’s a dancer.  and a model.  and he’s not only an amazing person to be around but an absolute JOY to work with.;-)  this is a favorite from a session he and i did together recently.  more to come….

{environment} – Richmond VA photographer

while driving to this shoot i started to get very worried about both the lighting and weather situation.   just minutes before we were set to begin, what was once a sunny and gorgeous (but super hot day) turned into something completely opposite…dark clouds quickly moved in and i was certain a crazy storm was brewing.  thankfully though, the clouds passed and moved on just as quickly as they had come in.  what resulted was actually an amazing display of some of the most gorgeous lighting i’ve seen.

many thanks to the crazy talented makeup artist khalood for continually amazing me with her artistry.  and tons of thanks to the fabulous model mary morgan.  you guys were awesome.;-)

…13… (continued) Lexington, VA portrait photographer

last week i posted a quick image from a recent session here.  as i continued to edit the session, i knew there was NO way i could only share just one…i absolutely fell in love with this session.  mom contacted me because her daughter was turning 13 and she wanted to document this age and special time in her life as she entered her teen years.  after corresponding back and forth we decided to do a mix of downtown/urban paired with a more romantic/nature inspired session.  i adore the results.;-)  while we only had a good 15 or so minutes at the last location due to a crazy thunderstorm that LITERALLY came out of nowhere, it just so happened to be all the time we needed.

sisters. richmond, va newborn photographer

it’s so hard to believe that four years ago i was photographing big sisters newborn portraits.  it is crazy how quickly she has grown!  and she certainly has grown…into a gorgeous, kind natured, sweet and thoughtful little girl that is completely in love with her little sister.  from the moment i walked in the door she was tending to her baby sister making sure she was ok.  then, even though she waited so patiently, she could not WAIT for her turn to be photographed with her adorable little sis.  during the portion of the session that she joined in on, she was absolutely perfect.  it was almost like she knew that twenty years from now, these pictures were going to be something truly special to look back on with her sister/best friend.;-)

these following images are two of my favorite “connection” images of all time.  we were waiting on mom to get changed so she could join us for a few pictures.  while we were waiting, big sis went and sat right next to little sis and started watching over her while she slept…

then she just couldn’t herself…she had to hold her sister’s hand.  all on her own she did this.  love.;-)
